durovis dive Headset

The Durovis Dive is a Google cardboard meets ski goggles HMD.  The optics are extremely adjustable (for no good reason that I know of) and the entire face mask is very flexible.  This means that getting the lenses correctly aligned is very difficult.  Also the entire device seems to be quite poorly made.

If you look at the pics below you can see how carelessly the foam is glued to the cell phone retainer and how flimsy the hinges are.  Also note in the flex demo that the retainer has fallen off, which means your 600 dollar phone is now broken on the ground.

The lenses come on "popsicle" sticks so they can be moved from side to side and towards or away from the eye, but why?

I'm not applying much force to bend the frame this much. Note how far out of alignment the lenses are.
