1/35 Diesel Punk Bike printed using Shapeways White, Strong and Flexible

Picture
This was a composite project.  The idea was to start with a simple 3D model taking the limitations of the printing process into account, then super detail it using model kit parts.

The rider is a from Mini Art with an ancient Verlinden resin head.  The bike is detailed using Tamiya motorbike and Revell tank parts, as well as styrene shapes and etched brass making it a truly multimedia creation.

The model is painted using Acrylic enamels and inks.

This is the last project I will do using White, Strong and Flexible.  The surface is just too rough and porous.  It is very difficult to work and doesn't hold detail at all well.  I will try the frosted detail process on the next model.

I was pleased that I printed the bike at the correct size to integrate with the 50mm tall rider although the saddle is very wide.

Lots of heavy primer on the bike, including white extra fine tamiya putty on the tank.

About ready for some paint. Actually I did add a few more details such as the instrument clusters on the handlebars, and shoulder pads and pockets for the riders jacket.
